Exhibitors at this year's Littleton and Harestock country show

There are many aspects to the Littleton and Harestock show which include the main horticultural "flower" show and competition, the craft tent, arena events and many other attractions. You will find more information on each of these on this page and links to the details of how to enter any of the show's competitions.

The Flower Show

The "Flower Show" describes everything that is found in the main marquee. It's not just about the flowers!

As well as growers' competitions (flowers, fruit, vegetables and pot plants), there are classes for floral art, handicrafts, art, photography, cookery, preserves, sugarcraft and poetry.

For children and young people, there are classes for all of these and also handwriting and fashion design. There is also the Women's Institute competition.

We encourage everyone, of all ages, to enter the competitions. All the entries go to making a successful marquee, not just the winners - and we have all had to start somewhere.

Craft Tent

The Craft Tent is in its own part of the marquee. Here you can see craftspeople displaying and selling their craft items and even demonstrating their crafts. Over the years, we have had many different crafts, including spinning, wood-turning, knitting, jam-making and wire animal sculptures.

Arena and field events

This year's arena and field events include: live music from the Barton Stacey Jubilee Trad Jazz Band, Falcon High falconry, Marwell Zoo, a Punch & Judy Show, giant inflatable balls, graffiti art display, electric bicycle race, Fun Dog Agility Run and our Junior Football tournament, as well as all our usual sideshows. Our children's play area with bouncy castle, Mega-slide and roundabout is back, and don't forget our Miniature Railway up near the Sports Pavilion.

Raffle

The Raffle has a number of great prizes, including a brand new bicycle. Tickets will be on sale in the run up to the Show and on Show day.

Children's Pet Show

The Pet Show takes place on the Thursday before the Show - this year, 1st September 2011. It starts at 4pm with judging at 4.45pm. There is a small entry fee.

There are classes for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rodents and "other pets".

Saturday evening event

At present, we don't have a booking for Saturday evening. If you are interested in using the marquee for your own fundraising event, please get in touch!

Service in the tent

An ecumenical service hosted by Churches Together in North Winchester, the Service in the Tent starts at 10am the day after the Show, with coffee served in the Millennium Memorial Hall afterwards.

Beneficiary

Although the primary function of the Littleton and Harestock Show is to run a great day out for the community, we like to make a donation from our profits to a local charity. This year, we are pleased to announce that our chosen charity is Winchester and District Young Carers' Project

Based at the KAYAC centre in Winnall, Winchester and District Young Carers supports children and young people age 8 to 17 who find themselves with caring responsibilities, be it for a sick or disabled parent or other family member, or a family member affected by mental illness or addiction.

Winchester and District Young Carers offers support to these young people, giving them the chance to be children. There are a number of activities available, as well as a chance to meet up and make friends with others in the same situation. There is also advice and information on offer, a one to one Befriending Scheme and the chance to learn new skills, such as cooking or first aid.

This year, we will also be supporting fundraising for the Littleton Millennium Memorial Hall. First opened in 1999, this great local facility now needs renovation and we are pleased to be helping them with this.
