Flower Show 2003 proved to be another successful year for the Littleton and Harestock Show with people attending from all over Winchester and the surrounding areas. The exhibitors of the Flower Show provided a colourful array of floral and vegetable specimens, while the additional categories featured crafts, photographs, cakes and other baked goods, as well as the ever popular Children's section. There was also a Craft Tent that had stalls ranging from knitted and painted goods to demonstrations of spinning and wood work.
Bournemouth Carnival BandBournemouth Carnival Show Band, with each member dressed up as Spiderman was one of the most successful arena events attracting many participants during their act. Other attractions in the arena included a spectacular display of martial arts and a display from the Solent Dog Team.
The book stall was particularly busy with a constant stream of visitors, as were the Cats Protection League, MS and the Macmillan Nurses Stalls. The balloon race set off hundreds of balloons, and there are still prizes to be won by guessing how far the winning balloon will travel in our on-line competition.
There were stalls and activities for people of all ages including crockery smashing game, kiddies ball pit, bouncy castle, teddy bungee jump and ferret racing, a collection of vintage vehicles, miniature railway, the army assault course and an exhibit by the Littleton History group. The WI did a sterling job with the teas as always, with an amazing selection of cakes that kept everyone going throughout the day.
The 2003 Photo Gallery shows many of the Show entertainments, stalls and Flower Show exhibits.
The Show was part of a very successful weekend, with Thursday's Pet Show and Saturday evening's Barn Dance also very popular. The Church service on Sunday morning was also well attended, with the congregation being made up of people from all the churches within the 'Churches together of North Winchester.'
