The 2006 Littleon and Harestock Show didn't enjoy the Show's traditional fine weather, but the strong winds were at
least a help to Balloon Race entrants as the balloons flew off at high speed and should go quite some way this year.
The rain held off long enough for the first few arena events, starting with an energetic and informative display from
the Lowland Dogs Rescue Team. Two of their dogs demonstrated their search and rescue skills, including several challenges
to find young audience members hidden in the arena.
Next in the Arena were The Army Medical Services Band (V) who gave an excellent performance but were unable to return for their second appearance due to the wet weather. Minuature Tanks completed Arena events, with a mock battle including a range of tanks and plenty of lound bangs. Thankfully there were no casualties amongst the tanks or the audience! This year's Flower Show exhibits were
of a high standard and ranged from novelty-shaped vegetables to sugar-paste flowers, with exhibitors from young children and novices to veteran competitors.
A full list of competition classes and winners can currently be found on the Flower Show web pages.
Craft Tent stalls included some familiar faces and some new stalls, with quiltmakers, a chutney stall, woodwork, ceramics and more. A paintball range run by the Army proved the most popular side-show with children at the Show, with the balloon race and face-painting a big hit with younger children. The traditional mix of sideshows and stalls provided entertainment and information, with refreshments available in the form of WI Teas, "Dobson's Diner," the pavillion bar and beer tent. A comprehensive Photo Gallery is now on-line, and we are always happy to receive any photos you may have taken at the Show.
