The return of the Show's traditional good weather for 1st September helped make the 2007 Littleton and Harestock
Show another enjoyable afternoon for all ages.
In a slight change from previous years the entertainment was spread throughout the Recreation Ground. The Arena played host to
a junior football tournament featuring five teams of local young footballers. Around the Show Ground the Hook Eagles Morris Dancers gave two demonstrations
with acompaniment from their own musicians, and model helicopters flew throughout the afternoon, even upside-down! The Army Medical Services (V) Band returned to the show as well, and with better weather this year they were
able to entertain an audience of young and old alike.
Another returning attraction was the Cookery Demonstrations by the Chef of the Harestock Lodge Hotel, who was also happy to answer questions after each demonstration. The Camera Obscura was new to the Show, and provided a unique 360° view of the Show Ground, focused on hand-held discs. Even the Summer's earlier rain couldn't stop the efforts and high standards
of Flower Show exhibitors. The Marquee was as full as ever, with spectators taking a great deal of interest in the exhibits and the judges' comments.
A full list of competition classes and winners can will be available soon on the Flower Show web pages.
Craft Tent stalls were as popular and varied as ever, from woodwork to quiltmaking to jams and chutneys. Food and drink were popular too, with the Ice Cream van, "Dobson's Diner", the WI Team Room and the Golden Lion beer tent competing for the "Longest Queue of the Day." There were several new sideshows and stalls for the 2007 Show, including the "Coin Run" as well as perennial favourites such as the Balloon Race and Bouncy Castle. Face-painting from the Littleton Playgroup was very popular, with lots of children sporting distinctive and colourful designs. A gallery of 2007 Show photos is now on-line, and we would be happy to include any of your own photos you would like to add.
