The 2008 Littleton and Harestock Show saw arguably the best weather of a few very wet days, with only one or two brief showers during the Show
and then the almost traditional light rain as the Show drew to a close.
As with the 2007 Show attractions were to be found all over the Show ground, with Ray Prior giving an entertaining and informative falconry display,
another competitive and well-supported Junior Football tournament, music from the Army Medical Services (V) band and two aerobatic displays of model
helicopter flying.New to the Show ground was the Gala Event Tent which hosted two magic shows from Andy Cadabra, an informative presentation on Marwell Zoo's conservation work and a Gardener's Question Time with show-goers putting questions of a panel of experts. The Flower Show celebrated
the highest ever number of entrants, with familiar faces and new names providing a wide variety of high-quality exhibits. The Sugarcraft
exhibits were given special mention by the Flwoer Show judges and also drew a lot of interest from show-goers.The Craft Tent was as popular as ever and included its usual variety of products from jewellery to quilt-work, and photography to jam-making. This year saw many stall-holders actually demonstrating their skills, with show-goers able to watch spinning, jewellery-making and wire-mesh sculpture in progress. The Army continued their invaluable contribution to the Show, bringing the paintball range which was such a hit in 2007 and also running a huge inflatable assault course which saw non-stop use by a large number of children until the rain returned and caused an early end to its use. An outdoor seated area provided some extra capacity for the WI Teas this year and was well-used as the teas and cakes were a big a draw as ever. The Hot Dog stall provided a variety of hot food and soft drinks, and staff of the Golden Lion ran a beer tent and opened the Pavillion bar to cater for those wanting something a little stronger. A gallery of 2008 Show photos is now on-line, and we would be happy to include any of your own photos you would like to add.
